CLIENT: Ube Technologies (now Plum)

NEED: To develop a service ecology, the UX, and UI for an app and a new hardware product called a ‘smart dimmer’. Ube (now Plum) , based in Austin Texas, is developing innovative  products and services for the smart connected home. They are easy to install and use. The app enables the products to connect via WiFi to form a home network where each device can be controlled using the App on a smartphone. The company is focused on being a key player in the Internet of Things (IoT) in a market that is estimated to be worth $1.4 Trillion by 2022

SOLUTION: We created the brand and design ‘DNA’ for a the App and a range of branded products. Factotum developed the brand and identity that could work across a range of products, developed a service ecology and a knockout user experience and intuitive user interface. We first developed a brand and sub-brand structure before creating a brand rubric with values associated with psychographic profiles. The brand values were then use to inform a brand language and design lexicon for the app and devices.
